Using the Freelance Writers' Database website implies acceptance of the terms below.
GeneralThe conditions below apply to material posted on any part of the site, including messages and profiles. Members may not post offensive or threatening language, or messages that promote violence or hate. Posts which break any applicable laws are not allowed, nor are sexist or racist comments, libel, obscenity or plagiarism.Using your profile or any other area of this website to advertise products and services unrelated to freelance writing is not allowed. In addition, please refrain from posting affiliate links. Links may not be made to any sites that feature illegal content. You are responsible for choosing a secure password, and for not allowing your account to be misused by those with access to your computer. Whenever you volunteer information, it can be collected and potentially misused by other visitors to this site. Freelance Writers' Database accepts no responsibility for material you have posted to a public area such as your profile. Users who register with a nonsense or cartoon name such as "Mickey Mouse" or "ABCD" will be removed without notice. In using this website you accept that material posted by users does not necessarily reflect the views of Freelance Writers' Database. Writing Talk ForumNaming specific websites or companies is not allowed in the forum. Additionally, leaving obvious clues such as search engine links that point to specific companies or websites won't be allowed.If you want to discuss a situation, please exemplify it. For instance: The editor of example.com will not pay me for my work. What can I do? What can I do if Example Inc plagiarises me? However, there are a small number of exceptions. You can mention by name certain major research resources that are of use to most writers. This includes large search engines and important government and educational sites. Good examples of this are the CDC, the Office of National Statistics, and NASA. Places that provide freely available collections of a substantial amount of authoritative information are exempt. This exception does not cover small directories, ordinary webzines, or publishers. Read more about these rules here. MessagesIn addition to the above conditions, you may not use the message system to send spam or off-topic messages. In the context of this website, spam refers to any messages not connected in any way with writing, journalism or freelance work. In addition, if a member specifies on their profile that he or she is not interested in a certain topic, messages about such a topic will be considered spam. Please read profiles carefully before deciding to send a message.In order to free up space, older messages may periodically be removed from the system. This currently applies to messages over 6 months old, and messages sent to members whose accounts have been deleted. AccountsYou may register both as an editor and a writer if you wish. However multiple writers or editors accounts in the same name are not allowed. If you want to keep different types of writing separate, for example if you have a pseudonym, or if you are the editor of several publications, you may register up to three different accounts, but they must not contain duplicated details.In order to keep details on the database up to date, member accounts may expire following a period of more than 18 months of inactivity. SanctionsFailure to comply with the above terms may lead to the suspension or termination of your account. Freelance Writers' Database reserves the right to decide what constitutes a breach of these terms, and any material may be removed by us, at our discretion. Breach of any applicable laws may also lead to prosecution. |
